I met Richard back in the early 60's when I worked at WILD through his good friend, and my co-worker, Wildman Steve. Richard was trying to cut his teeth in comedy there in Boston and working as a cab driver around town on the side. He was struggling on the edge of making it big in Bean Town along with Rudy Ray Moore and Flip Wilson. Richard ended up having to move to New York to get his first big break. The reason Richard drove taxi on the side was because he wasn't getting much work on the circuit around Boston area. We all knew the lack of work was due to Richards propensity to date white women. Think of Boston in the 60's (or even now), it didn't matter how funny you were. I saw him a from time to time after the Boston days and him making it big; he was always endless funny and always for real, sometimes real crazy, but always for real.
God Bless you Richard, we will miss you.
