Ruth Brown and I go so far back that I remember her as Ruth Weston. I had the privilege to see her again just a few months before she passed at one of her last live performances and interviews here in Seattle. You can see some of the images I took with her in my Gallery.
I met and became good friends with Ruth before she broke big in the business. We shared stages as well as good times together when she was married to Clyde McPhatter of The Drifters, and her second husband, Willis 'Gator Tail' Jackson who was a tenor sax player for Count Basie. We were all tight friends back in the day and I am so blessed to have known all these great artists so intimately. I will remember her always and she will live on in my heart through all the memories and stories I will continue to share.
God Bless her
Jimmy
